Comment:

 BTW, the test is simply to boot the laptop, stopping the boot in OFW (by
 pressing the ESC key when the screen lights up).  Then type:

  ok> reboot

 On the reboot, there is no audio output on laptops with this problem.

 A full power cycle corrects the problem.
