 I started to investigate this but ran out of time.

 I checked fl_BlockLayout::doclistener_insertSpan() and the text analysis
 looks reasonable. The omega and the 's' are being analyzed individually.
 That's probably how it should be.

 I checked GR_CairoGraphics::shape() and the text data passed to
 pango_shape() looks reasonable too. But I didn't have a chance to check
 the output glyphs.
