Comment(by martin.langhoff):

 I have a candidate patch -- please test on an 802B1 build, patching
 /usr/share/sugar/shell/hardware/nminfo.py with the provided
 "ap_retry.patch".

 For reasons of logistics (my tools are split across the atlantic at the
 moment) I cannot test it fully. It does retry once for an AP where it has
 a key stored. Cases to test

  - the "first conn fails" case discussed in this bug
  - the AP changed passphrase (note that this may have been broken before,
 test with and without patch)
  - the AP changed encryption mode (also, may have been broken before)

 When testing, set /home/olpc/.xsession to have sugar in 'debug' mode (copy
 settings from .xsession-example) . Any issues, we will want to be
 reviewing shell.log
