Comment(by wad):

 I ran memtest several times on laptops with this problem, and didn't see
 any errors.  Likewise, the fact that the SD tests NEVER seg faults makes
 me feel better about this.

 The SD test is constantly running dd, cp, and cmp, while the process that
 seg faults is just running sleep and rtcwake.
