Comment:

 This problem will hinder compilation of any out of tree kernel module,
 such as for a novel USB to VGA converter or USB sensors.

 Chris Marshall (MIT) and Wade Brainerd in a
 [http://lists.sugarlabs.org/archive/sugar-devel/2010-December/029215.html
 sugar-devel@ thread] have also hit this problem for a Wacom Bamboo.
