 usb_modeswitch is not necessary for modems that havefull kernel support,
 where the kernel module is able to switch them out of storage mode.
 Several modems that used to require usb_modeswitch no longer do on 10.1.2.
 There's still the problem of lag though; between the time the modem
 becomes available on the market and the time that the kernel is patched
 accordingly.  We should concentrate on the modems we use, and the modems
 used by deployments.  We can't hope to keep up with all modems.  Also, the
 same model modem is occasionally provisioned by a wireless broadband
 vendor with different firmware, and so the support complexity grows.
