Comment(by wad):

 Reconsidering:

 Due to the open-drain nature of this output, there won't be any
 detrimental effects to leaving it on (i.e. no leakage into powered off
 circuitry, causing weirdness on startup), except for an infinitesimally
 higher power drain due to driving the gate of the output transistor.

 The power savings probably aren't worth the extra software effort to have
 Linux turn it off.
