 I've tried a few times but this has not reproduced for me either.  On idle
 suspend the USB power correctly collapses; measured with a LED and
 resistor attached to the socket.  The USB ethernet device power LED goes
 out.  The network switch port goes out.  On resume these indications
 reverse and the filesystem is still mounted.  e2fsck after manual umount
 shows no errors.  Went through several cycles including idle suspend just
 after creating about 267M of files (15786 of them) on a 2GB USB stick.
