Comment:

 I'm fairly confident that we don't plan to fix this.  There is not enough
 memory to support both Sugar and our tmpfs in conjunction with yum.  The
 crash of Terminal and the freeze of the system is expected.

 We provide olpc-update as a replacement function that updates to a later
 build from laptop.org without costing so much memory.

 We'd also rather not wrap yum in something that reconfigures the system
 especially.  So you must prepare the system before using yum.  You should
 run with swap, umount the tmpfs, and stop Sugar before attempting yum.
 Some transactions may require yet more resources, in which case you may
 need to attempt them on hardware with more memory.
