 tried again on build 121.  still broken.  installed with:
   yum --nogpgcheck --disablerepo="*olpc*" install
 /media/Kodak/skype-2.1.0.81-fc10.i586.rpm

 using the "test call" feature, skype apparently receives no audio at all.
