New description:
there's some amount of demand for a way to disable tap-to-click on the
CL1A and CL1B (i.e., 1.5) laptops.
until someone figures out how to do this "correctly" by enabling the
synaptics driver in the kernel and making the upper layers work correctly
with it, the attached patch is a possible stopgap. it allows selecting
whether to enable tap-to-click at module load time (i.e., at boot).
(disable tap-to-click by putting the attached .conf file into
/etc/modprobe.d)
related bugs are #959, and #9775. in particular, re: #9775 -- the patch
is currently written to do nothing if the synaptics driver is available.
but in #9775, it appears that the driver is present, but disabled.
perhaps the current mechanism would help in that case as well, in which
case the ifdefs should go away.

Comment:
Tested on os121 using olpc-update from os120, tap-to-click is ''not''
disabled.
