 That's a different test -- the use case this bug is supposed to fix is
 more like:

 * boot machine
 * machine idle-suspends
 * wake up machine
 * start Record
 * overlay should not be black

 Does that case work for you?  If so, we have a different bug of "Record
 breaks if you suspend/resume while it's streaming" (which isn't as
 surprising).
