 hmm.  the mod time on the tty checks tty output.  your input keystrokes
 should have been keeping the useridle1 event from happening.  if you'd
 been idle for ~15 seconds and just then hit a key i would have said it was
 the inevitable race between checking for activity and going to sleep.  but
 this is different.

 what else was running?  anything interesting?  any USB input devices
 involved?  if you think you might hit it again, you should uncomment the
 "set_tracing on" (search for "uncomment") to make sure the trace file is
 useful.

 i'll try and spend more time on a VT to see if i see it.
