 it already does.  :-/

 the biggest difference is that it compares against the configured
 inactivity timer, rather than a hard-coded 60 seconds.  so in our case
 it's 15 seconds.  but i assume you were typing within that 15 second
 window?

 (i did spot a fairly surprising copy/paste mistake in the code that checks
 the tty modification times, but on testing, amazingly enough it works.
 who knew you could "continue" right out of a shell function to a loop in
 the caller?  i think it's a bash bug.)
