The card has no identifying marks, I'll see if with an adapter I can find
 a model number via linux.

Symptoms of being bad: neither the standard install of an official signed
release nor an install of the latest f11 release for xo 1.5 installed, I
tried writing via openfirmware (i.e. fs-update blah blah) and it died
about 3/4 of the way through. Boot after that gave me lots of complaints
about mmc0 interrupts and timeouts during boot, and some stack traces,
shortly after mounting the root filesystem.

The sd card test from firmware failed, it claimed the card was locked.

Installing the same os image to a different microsd card worked fine, the
 xo is happily running now.
