 Ok, this particular laptop might have a SPI flash problem.

 However, we've also seen cases of boards which developed these same
 symptoms without being upgraded. These laptops emit the regular boot sound
 and flash the wifi leds.

 The owners of these laptops reported that the problem developed
 spontaneously , though if they had indeed done something, I wouldn't
 expect them to tell us the truth.
