 Fair enough.

 X drivers are usually orthogonal to the kernel drivers for the same card,
 so I'd expect that the kernel driver only exists to provide support for a
 text console.  (As with viafb vs. openchrome, nvidiafb vs. nouveau, etc).

 This is a pretty weird device, though..
