 This might make a good internship project.  It's not as simple as picking
 an existing tool and using it; questions of how to detect what's being
 used when, record it without using too much disk space, and get the
 information sent off somewhere useful are all non-trivial.

 I'd suggest posting it as a suggestion to one of the devel lists.
