Comment:

 Not a hardware issue. wad explained that this LED is controlled by the mic
 bias. Indeed, this verb will turn off the LED: {0x1b,
 AC_VERB_SET_PIN_WIDGET_CONTROL, 0}

 So we need to extend the HDA driver somehow to get hooks into when
 recording starts and stops.
