 cjb -- did you say that ftrace can be used somehow to help with
 spontaneous reboots like this?
 if so, can you write up a small HOWTO?  i think i may have seen this as
 well, not too long ago.  for a sporadic bug like this, it would be worth
 setting up whatever tools we've got ahead of time.
