 That does seem a bit racy.

 FYI, if I make the printk level 9, I can go a few S/R cycles w/o running
 into above error but it is triggered eventualy. I tried increasing the
 timeout value in the irq thread from 10msec to 50msec but that didn't
 change any behaviour.
