Comment:

I ran some tests with plugging/unplugging USB sticks (and a third SD
card). That allowed me to better understand what I am being shown by os44
 regarding removable storage resources:

  1) When I plug in a removable storage devide (e.g., an USB stick) and
let it be "automounted", the icon for it shows up in Frame, in Journal,
 and in Object Chooser.[[BR]]
  2) But when I manually mount a removable storage device, no icon for it
shows up in any of those places.[[BR]]
  3) In os44 my "permanent" SD card is "fixed-mounted" through /etc/fstab
 - and its icon does not show up in Frame or Journal or Object Chooser.

Quozl was right - I *do* have changes which I make to the configuration on
os44 (see #9706). In os40 and earlier, my SD card got "automounted" in
time for Sugar start-up to see it. [And then its icon showed up in Frame
and in Journal (I don't remember about Object Chooser).] But now in os42
(and later), I have an entry for my SD card in /etc/fstab which points to
/sdc (a mount point I manually added to the root filesystem).
