 Ah, yes.  You're right, Martin.  This is also probably what Andy meant.
 F4 does not work unless the journal has been requested already using Alt-
 Tab or the Journal icon.  I've tested this just now, with the following
 results:

 === State 0: Immediately After Starting Sugar ===

 e.g. after boot or Ctrl-Alt-Erase.

  *  F4 has no effect, there is no response,

  *  navigating to another view (F1, F2, F3) and then using F4 has no
 effect,

  *  starting or stopping the Terminal or Write activity, has no effect,

 === Transition: Triggers ===

  *  Alt-Tab brings up the journal,

  *  Clicking on the Journal icon in the activity ring view brings up the
 journal,

 === State 1: Once Journal Has Been Seen ===

  *  F4 ''does'' bring up the journal.
