Comment(by Quozl):

 The symptom does not go away if the X server is killed and restarted.

 The symptom persists over the shutdown warnings.

 The symptom is cleared by a reboot.

 The symptom returned after one suspend and resume in Terminal, with the
 hardware cursor again overlaying the X server root window.

 The symptom does not appear on another B2 here despite several attempts.

 And finally, the symptom has ceased appearing on the original B2 on which
 it appeared.

 Acknowledged test in build.  ;-)
