 Looking at where this ticket is up to.

 d52c789b39da92d52abfdaa296fce902b390c2ec added bulk save and restore of
 mode using the openchrome driver.
 b41afa1c926dbadb316df82e04abbebd45939518 fixed register save count.
 055890a8d8ad3369749a1f07686abeeb7bd5119e added selective save and restore
 of mode using the X VIA driver.

 These patches are in os40, and os40 does seem to restore use of the text
 console fine after resume.

 Can this ticket be closed?
