Comment:

 Not fixed on os39.

 On os39, ''/etc/pulse/client.conf'' does not yet have ''autospawn = no'',
 but ''gnome-settings-daemon'' now spins at 0.1% of CPU according to ''top
 -d 30'' (down from 0.3% in os33).  Editing ''client.conf'' and restarting
 X still fixes it.
