Comment:

 I fixed the problem as follows:

   # cd /etc/rc.d/rc3.d
   # ln -s ../init.d/z-boot-anim-stop S99z-boot-anim-stop

 It looks like the chkconfig line in z-boot-anim-stop needs "345" instead
 of just "5".

 Reassigning to dsd as the person who has most recently worked on bootanim.
