 several times now i've had a hang in OFW, occurring right after the:

 {{{
 Type 'i' to interrupt stand-init sequence
 }}}
 line. the initial splash (XO guy, no dot at 6 o'clock) does come up, but
 the startup sound does not play.

 it seems to usually happen during a power-cycle (i.e., the machine was
 running immediately beforehand), and it might be related to temperature --
 it often seems to happen after linux has been very busy, either with
 continuous graphics, or infinite kernel loop (i try to avoid those,
 though, honest). this may be coincidental, though.
