Comment:

 reproduced on os33 by reading the mixer settings using amixer, or
 alsamixer, or changing any mixer setting, or running speaker-test.  the
 LED stays lit for five seconds (+/- one second) then extinguishes unless
 the trigger is repeated or I/O continues.
