Comment:
matei.tene's attachment can be found in ticket #9571, and I agree, it was
a lack of memory combined with our jffs2 endurance protection design
decision, and Mikus provides a good workaround.
Reviewed thread on devel@ "the importance of providing swap space".
Similar situation and cause.
Attempting to reproduce:
||'''os build'''||'''model'''||'''test'''||'''result'''||'''validity'''||
||os33||XO-1.5||''yum install gparted''||successful||valid||
||os33||XO-1.5||''yum update''||fails with file conflicts relating to
kernel package||invalid||
||os8||XO-1||''yum install gparted''||fails "Cannot allocate memory" and
"Segmentation fault", retry with 128Mb swap successful, 7Mb of swap was
used||valid||
||os8||XO-1||''yum update''||fails with missing dependencies for
libabiword||invalid||
||802||XO-1||''yum install gparted''||successful||valid||
||802||XO-1||''yum update''||fails with missing dependencies for olpc-
update||invalid||
Successfully reproduced on os8. It looks like a regression from 802 to
os8, probably caused by increased memory consumption by yum. The
workaround is viable.
Removing milestone ''1.5-F11'' from this ticket, since it doesn't impact
the build for XO-1.5.
That yum should take updates in smaller groups automatically is an
excellent idea, and should be proposed upstream. Changing component to
''fedora''.
