Comment(by dsd):

 Finally, after deleting enough datastore entries, remove the
 "index_updated" file from the datastore root.


 There is a bug in sugar-0.84 which means the journal will break after you
 remove entries according to the above process. Need to look into this.
 Tomeu says "the fix would be to avoid the DS from ever returning an entry
 without uid"
