Comment(by laforge):

 the via driver (not openchrome) implements three different ways for
 rotation, as there are three
 different units in the hardware that can do it.  One is the old 2D
 acceleration unit, second is
 the CBU (no idea what the name means) rotation unit, and number three is
 the 3D unit.

 It's probably best to do some benchmarking on that driver and then decide
 which of the rotation
 schemes should be implemented in openchrome.
