 a few issues:

 1. HAL's upstream detection of XO-1 is wrong and needs this fix

 2. It is still wrong, because not all XOs have ALPS touchpads.
 (this means that we have bugs in 8.2.1.. the battery will be being
 excessively polled by HAL causing a degradation in audio permance on
 systems with synaptics touchpads, anything else?)

 3. Upon finding an ALPS touchpad it automatically assumes OLPC XO-1 C2. we
 need a better system that can also detect newer revisions, XO-1 vs XO-1.5,
 etc.
