 further background:

 the leak only occurs when we power down the card, which only happens if we
 haven't set wakeup parameters.  so in the normal idle suspend case, there
 is no leak.  however, in a lid-close sleep, or in the case of a manual
 "echo mem > /sys/power/state" or rtcwake call, the leak will occur.
