Comment(by pgf):

 i've just checked 10 B2 and B3 machines here at 1CC, and haven't found one
 on which the LID switch is erratic. i've been using richard's loop:
 {{{
  select /switches begin lid? . again
 }}}
 which, on a C1 with known lid switch issues at QSMC, was an effective
 test.

 as far as i know, there were no schematic changes in the area between the
 lid sensor, EC, and southbridge for the C1 build. do we think component
 variation could cause the higher occurrence
 rate in C1?

 given the interrupt storm i saw evidence of on a C1 at QSMC (over 30000
 lid interrupts within 5 minutes of booting), i'm starting to wonder if the
 lid switch flap could be related to #9865. an awful lot (all?) of the
 reports of hangs other than wad's original (which was on a C1) seem like
 they might be explained by #9836.

 (i know there's some hand-waving and vagueness here.)
