 in an attempt to speed up tag recreation, i used this patch to prevent a
 full system reboot on every tag create/delete:

 : kbc-start  no-kbc-reboot kbc-on  ;  patch kbc-start io-spi-reprogrammed
 io-spi-start
 }}}

 repeatedly running:

 ok delete-tag TS  add-tag TS RUNIN
 }}}

 works for a while (between 1 and 30 times, in my experience), but
 eventually i get:
