 .. that said, I just correctly measured Distance with one laptop using
 Swaziland locale ($LANG="C") and one in en_US.UTF-8 and it worked, so I
 think this was probably just a sporadic collaboration failure.

 .. which would be extremely helpful, because it uncovered a locale bug
 that we wouldn't have known about otherwise ..
