Comment(by wad):

 We don't have B3 machines with us, and so haven't verified the crash on B3
 laptops.   From a hardware point of view, the significant point is that
 the error is not unique to C1 hardware --- it has been duplicated on
 earlier hardware.
 B3 and C1 laptops are almost identical.

 Trying to reproduce with a serial port attached.
