Comment:

 I'm not sure what problem is being described here.  Since this ticket is
 now being cited on the developer's list, I did my own "under the tree"
 communications test.  I was able to start an ad-hoc network by clicking on
 the icon in Frame in the XO-1.5 (os54), and was able to participate in
 that network with an XO-1 (unofficial os10) by clicking on the ad-hoc
 network's icon that appeared in the XO-1's Neighborhood view.

 I was able to successfully collaborate between the two systems with Chat
 (started from the XO-1.5) and with Write (started from the XO-1);  I also
 was able to use 'rsync' to manually transfer files between the two
 systems.

 From how I see things, "create a new wireless network" can work.
