Comment:

 From my perspective, the font size change was introduced by a change in
 style.py.

 The old version of style.py used a formula to calculate FONT_SIZE, which I
 guess resulted in a value of 8.something.

 The new version of style.py extracts the FONT_SIZE from python -- if that
 is being "inherited" from gconf.xml.defaults, the result would be a value
 of 10.
