Comment:

 Gary, it would be great if you could give this a try. We owe you so many
 beers to have discovered it.

 Tomeu, I can't think of a better fix. I guess the pulse timeout_add is
 keeping a reference on the icon until it's stopped. It probably make sense
 to stop it explicitly anyway, we should not rely on the object to be
 garbage collected to stop the pulsing. Please have a careful look to both
 code and patch and see if you can think of other possibilities.
