 If OFW is there, then option 4 is the best one.  However, putting on my
 combination kernel developer and Carnac the Magnificent hat, I am guessing
 that softdog/oops kernel code that kicks back into OFW will be met with
 resistance.  That said, if its the best for XO, then we do it.  If we were
 to jump into OFW, would it be possible to come into a special mode where
 the user can read information but not actually affect any changes to
 circumvent secure mode?

 Mitch also tells me that the OFW ELF would be somewhere in the area of
 150k fully loaded, probably too big for the flash image, and I know the
 kdump kernel would be bigger then that, so option 3 is probably not
 suitable (but it would be more likely to be accepted upstream).
