Build 8.2-760. Using 'copy' in the Journal palette for an entry, will copy
its state to the clipboard. However, if the entry has no actual state
(e.g. Terminal, Log, Analyze etc) a ghost (empty) object will be added to
the clipboard. It has no palette associated with it so it can't be erased
 or interacted with.

I guess the correct behaviour might be for the Journal entry palette to
disable/grey-out the copy menu item for entries that have no data. Same
goes for the copy toolbar button on the Journal detail view.

Trying to copy an empty entry (from Terminal) caused at least one Sugar
bomb out and reload for me during testing, but I have not been able to
 repeat the crash since then.
