I kept having a problem where after switching to etoys using atl-tab, it
disabled the keyboard for all applications and left system in state as if
Alt was pressed all the time. After head scratching, I am pretty sure I am
able to reliably duplicate this as follows (but I know there are other
ways - in fact I am pretty sure the first 4 steps will do):

 1. start etoys

 2. go to make project, move the mouse a bit

 3. fairly quickly after, do Alt-left click.

 4. after about 1s, another left click (without Alt) - now alt behaves as
if "on", and further clicks behave as alt-clicks. to show the point, start
terminal, most keys do not type anything. Nothing can be done about it!

The above steps seems enough most of the time. if not, do this:

 5. hit escape, which will close etoys

 6. wait reasonable amount to make sure etoys quit

 7. restart etoys alt is still "on" !
