 Python .pyc files include the modification time of the .py file from which
 they are generated.  Pilgrim resets the modification time of all files at
 the end of the image creation stage, so that updates aren't bloated by
 having to update the timestamp of every file -- but as a side-effect this
 seems to mean that python will never use the .pyc files included in our
 builds.
