choose cancel, later or check now.

 > A second XO i upgraded automatically connected with medialab (unsure if
it was registered to a school server while in 8.2-759) and when I selected
"later" for the software update, then loaded a few activities and played
them before shutdown, when I rebooted the three options came up again.
When I selected cancel, and after opening and playing a few activities
again, upon reboot the options were no longer available. Had to go into
control panel and select software update manually. [Upon reboot the XO
automatically connected to school server (!)]

note: it does not indicate that updates will not take effect until reboot
has happened when upgraded manually. Should we have an alert or even a
"button" for this after manual upgrade?
