Comment(by Eben):

 Could you elaborate on your reasons for requesting this behavior? Right
 now, the shutdown button suspends the computer on a momentary press, and
 turns it off when held. Perhaps kids press it in an attempt to turn the
 machine off, not realizing that it just goes into suspend mode instead.
 However, we need to ask questions like: How often do we expect kids to
 turn off their laptops? Do we expect kids to manually suspend their
 laptops at all?

 Perhaps if we do bring up a dialog of this form, it reads something like:
 "Choose an action to take when leaving your laptop. It will suspend
 automatically in <n> seconds." ( Shut down )  (  <n> Suspend )  ( Cancel
 ), with a timer so that the current default is still the default, albeit
 on a delay. I'm not yet convinced this is necessary, though.
