 I was curious about this backup & restore of Journal items using USB.  So
 with my single XO I copied several items from my Journal to USB (using
 drag & drop), then unmounted USB stick, unplugged it, then deleted
 original items from my Journal, then replugged USB stick, then copied all
 the items back to my Journal (using drag & drop), then unmounted and
 unplugged USB stick, then tested all those items restored in my Journal.

 Images and a video (from Record) displayed or played okay (in Browse), as
 did a couple of alt-1 screenshots.  A pdf ebook viewed okay in Read.
 Activities Ruler.xo and Doom.xo launched okay.  And activities Terminal
 and Log both resumed okay.

 A couple of restored clipboard items did not produce sensical results when
 I clicked on them. So most things transferred to USB and back worked okay,
 but clipboard items need more study.

 I am testing 8.2-759 with one XO.  I don't have a second XO for
 reproducing frances' problem with the transferred Record video.
