 I managed (by repeated trying) to put the laptop back into suspend last
 night at 22:50.  The red power LED turned on sometime today between 14:00
 and 15:17.  The laptop suspended for a total of 22 hours the first time +
 16 hours the second (plus half an hour of powered-up time and the power
 draw of a USB keyboard during part of that time), for a total suspend time
 from full-battery to red-LED of about 38 hours.   I hope that others will
 repeat this experiment for confirmation.
