Comment:

 Yuck, it's a kernel bug.  lshal --monitor shows nothing when the lid is
 closed.  Steps to reproduce:

  * tap power button to sleep
  * tap power button to wake
  * close lid

 Note that we don't sleep, and that HAL isn't passing on a lid close event.
